As you probably know, there are a few things you should do to keep your teeth healthy and strong. Similarly, you probably know that there are a few things you should have addressed by your dentist. For instance, you may need to have a cavity filled or may even need root canal therapy—but sometimes, a common procedure may not be enough.
As you may know, you may need root canal therapy if your root canal is damaged. In fact, your root canals—which are located in the center of your teeth—are typically difficult to treat in any other way, since our dentist will have to address an issue in the center of your teeth. Fortunately, root canal therapy has made significant advancements in recent years. In fact, root canal therapy is now only about as unpleasant as having a cavity filled.
However, you may also need to consider root canal microsurgery, which is also known as an apicoectomy. If you have calcium deposits that restrict the canals of your roots, you could be a candidate.
Similarly, an apicoectomy may be useful for diagnostic reasons—especially if you have persistent pain in a tooth. Similarly, you may need an apicoectomy if you’ve already had root canal therapy, but your infection returns.
If you think that you may be a candidate for root canal surgery or for root canal microsurgery, we can help. Our dentists, Dr. Gill and Dr. Gill, and our team will examine your oral health and help you understand what you may be able to do to enjoy healthier teeth.
